- The published score does not include the dedication.
- Pierre Boulez orchestrated the pieces in January 1946 and began extending the cycle for full orchestra in 1978. Only Notations I-IV and VII were completed.
- Pierre Boulez recycled elements of the Douze Notations in the music for Le Crépuscule de Yang Koueï-Fei and in the Deux Improvisations sur Mallarmé.
- In 2011 Johannes Schöllhorn completed an orchestration for instrumental ensemble of the Douze Notations pour piano, with the agreement of Pierre Boulez, premiered on 15 May 2011 in Cologne (Kölner Philharmonie), by the Ensemble MusikFabrik, conducted by Pascal Rophé.
